About

  • Alexandra Halchak is an American lyric coloratura soprano whose singing combines a brilliant, ringing tone with a depth of expression that edges toward the dramatic. Known for her strikingly high upper extension, she delivers agile, shimmering lines that bring an electrifying dimension to every performance.

From the sparkling fireworks of bel canto to the charged atmosphere of contemporary opera, Alexandra approaches each role with a commitment to both musical precision and emotional truth. Her acting is marked by passion and authenticity, inviting audiences into the inner life of every character she portrays.

Her repertoire includes Gilda in Rigoletto, Zerbinetta in Ariadne auf Naxos, and her signature role, the Königin der Nacht in Die Zauberflöte, among others. Alexandra’s artistry has taken her to stages around the world, including Opera San José in the United States, the Oper im Berg Festival in Salzburg, and the Three Bridges Festival in Scotland. She is especially excited to make her Opera Tampa debut in spring 2026 as Mrs. Grady in Paul Moravec’s The Shining.

Alexandra’s achievements include winning the “Mozart Prize” at the 2023 Grandi Voci Competition in Salzburg, Austria. She has trained with esteemed mentors such as Maestro Hans Härle and soprano Kathryn Lewek, refining her technique through programs like the Berlin Opera Studio and Lyric Opera Studio Weimar.

Alexandra has studied under Professor David Okerlund of Florida State University for over eight years, and continues working with him today. She lives in Clearwater, Florida with her husband, family, and young son.
